At this week’s mindfullness session as well as doing the exercises we watched a short video and I was loaned the book “Full Catastrophe Living” by Jon Kabat-Zinn, the founding father of medical mindfullness.
The text is dense and, even in the 15th Anniversary edition, a little dated; further its a slightly irritating advert for the activity rather than an analysis of the pros and cons or even a guide to using it in your life.
However, I have decided to stick with trying to read at least a reasonable proportion of it because he has a lot to say about one of its original uses which is the management of chronic pain. Needless to say the concept of combining the course for two ends appeals to me. – All I need to do now is work on the motivation to do the practice everyday.
